magazine holster 1911

Les Paul was more than a musician, but was later described by Time magazine as one of the ten greatest guitarists of all time. He was born in 1911 and entered the music at the age of 8 years. From the 9, his mother sent him to piano lessons, but after a few, was sent home with a note suggesting her mother to keep their money because the (born Lester) could never learn to play. But the music that has something, after trying the harmonica and banjo, he spent $ 5 first guitar. He made money picking up small insects.

Not content with a single instrument, invented a harmonica holder that allowed play two instruments at once. The device is still manufactured today. The desire to accompany lead to a permanent change in how music is produced and sells. When I was thirteen years, Paul was already a country music singer and guitarist, when I was seventeen, he was ready to be a pro, he joined Wolverton's Radio Band in St. Louis and began a career in radio. In 1936, his first recordings were released and he began playing jazz, his model? Who else Django Reinhardt.

In 1939, a new stage name of the LP, he moved to New York to work with Fred Waring and Pennsylvania, a group with a national radio program. For the same time he began to tinker with the design of a solid body electric guitar. Made from a piece of wood with a pill the bridge and the design of the guitar neck is called the newspaper. Pablo took this view the solid body Gibson rejected with the comment that was "Nothing but a broomstick with a microphone in it."

By 1940, their fans have followed almost ended in a fatal electric shock. While recuperating, he moved to Hollywood to produce music on the radio before being drafted into the army, where he has served in the armed forces Forces Radio, the scene as an artist and as bearers of Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters. His association with Crosby gave him his first big hit "It's Been A Long Long Time '.

In 1945, Paul met his hero Django Reinhardt Django time has come to America to visit. They met again in Paris and Paul returned to France after Django's death. Find the woman of his hero, no money, no running water or electricity, Paul headstone paid for Django, approached the record companies and I have to give $ 10,000 in unpaid royalties (a large sum for the time) to the widow of the legendary guitarist.

But there was more to Paul than an artist performer. An engineer named Jack Mullin has a recording of Germany (a tape recorder at first) and sent, and the need to strip, home to the States USA. Returning home after the war, rebuilt the ability of the device and showed the hope that she would be taken by the film industry. The tape caught the attention Bing Crosby, who have invested in a local electronics company, Ampex, asking them to produce (with Mullin) the first spool reel tape recorder business. Crosby then given one of the first production models to Les Paul.

Again Paul himself was the concept of accompaniment, as amended for the recorder has added another recording head and was able to register once, and then play with (and save) register, resulting in a mixture of both. The second the first was destroyed, a process called sounds sound, but the idea for the multi-track recording was born. Then, in 1948, disaster. Paul has been involved in an accident traffic that damaged his right arm. Doctors arms remain in any position they are because they were not able to rebuild properly. Paul had place so you can maintain and restore his guitar. Like its hero, Reinhardt, Les Paul has had time to recover, but he continued playing.

With his new wife, Mary Ford, was more and more successful. From 1951-1956, he had a string of 14 hits with a unique sound that was the time when the sound the sound Mary appears harmony with himself. The LP hit show on NBC radio in 1950, then transferred to television and Paul Gibson was with his electric guitar design. No one knows how the design will be written by Paul, but it has agreed to approve the guitar, since that time was known Paul Gibson.

In 1954, Paul ordered the first eight track Ampex recorder, development of technology for true multi-track recording. It has applied Westrex develop a method of stacking of the recording heads and synchronization, but they said they could not be done. Ampex other contract work, and two years later, Paul provided with the device (called "Octopus") for which he paid $ 10,000.

Final 1950 saw the emergence of rock, but Paul was not a rock musician. The couple's popularity has fallen and divorced in 1962. In 1965, Paul went into semi-retirement, but this was not the final. In the late 80s Paul returned to work once again, despite arthritis or other health problems. In 2006, 90 years old, his album The Paul "& Friends: American Made World played" won two Grammy awards. For its 90th anniversary tribute concert took place at Carnegie Hall. Paul continued to perform every Monday night at the Iridium club on Broadway until his death on August 21, 2009.

Les Paul do you remember? Somehow the "father of electric guitar" does not seem to cover it. From model guitar classic that bears his name, his numerous recordings inspired guitar great, and perhaps more than any other, the invention of the Multi-track recording LP the man who changed the world of music.
