magazine journalism degree
To be a magazine editor, what degree would suit me best?

I have been studying international business but if I ever had to change careers, I’d like to be an editor for a fashion magazine. What degree would be the best for this? Is it media production? Media Studies? Journalism? Communication?

if being a magazine editor is a career path you really intend to venture into in the future, then your best bet is journalism. you can do this as a major or a minor, if the degree you want to do is a joint honours, or just as a single honours. media production focuses mainly on tv and film production, practical work such as using tv cameras and how to film a documentry. so i don’t think this would suit your needs. on the other hand, if you are indeed interested in journalism but want to supplement your studies in that subject with something that has a theoretical aspect to it also, then go for media studies. and yet i will say: be prepared! as this covers all media; i.e. film, magazine, tv, newspapers, radio, the whole lot.

i for one am currently studying media as a major subject with journalism as my minor. i used to enjoy journalism when i was young but my main focus is media studies. seeing as nowadays and today, i prefer doing media to journalism, but hey that’s me!
