Under what Indian law a shop-keeper can force me to pay money for Magazine, even though i not decided to buy pl
my daughter was reading twinkle magazine at Connexion,Anna Nagar west,Chennai. The shop-keeper billed the magazine that your daughter has finished half the magazine in half an hour. When i asked my daughter she said no.To avoid more embrassement to child i decide to pay for that magazine. i told the shopkeeper that you cannot bill me without my consent.can i take some remedy through consumer forum or courts agaist the shopkeeper.
Technically the shop-keeper cannot charge you for any thing which you have not purchased or any service you have not availed, but this matter is so small that for mere few rupees going to the consumer forum or court is not advisable. Just to inform you that the number of cases pending in consumer forum are much larger then that are pending in any civil court in India & due to their high number the matter such as your can take few months or even a year to decide & the maximum compensation the you will be able to get will be only few rupees if the case is decided in your favor, but as compared to this the time, money you will be spending in this case will be much more then the compensation you get. Rest is your choice.
