Is it possible to release a number of internal magazine closer look professional?

I write a magazine that comes close 30 families in my area. I'm writing in Microsoft Word, but I find it difficult format of the form I want. I want the magazine to look professional as possible perhaps with a free program. Is there such a thing? Mabey you can download a program that will give me models to choose from and all that? Mabey something like Picture It!, But free. Thanks
