Can National Magazine Exchange get my credit card number?
Today I got one of those pink envelopes to enter a $2.1 million contest. Because there was the Better Homes and Gardens sign on it, I thought it was their contest and called the phone number. After giving the prize number, they said they had a record of me having MasterCard, Visa (etc etc) cards, and did I still have them? I said yes, but I did not give them my credit card numbers. I have since researched the real company behind the contest, and am now worried about my credit card security. Since they knew I had cards, is it possible they somehow have my numbers or can get them? I’m scared of getting sucked into this scam!
Chances are they “guessed” that you had the cards, since most people do. You can always talk to your credit card companies about fraud alerts.
