guidance for planning and publishing a school magazine for teens?

I have been assigned to start a quarterly school magazine. The age group of the students is 12 to 15. I need guidance regarding ideas on content and what user friendly software to use for design and layout

I was in the school paper when I was younger. I used to write articles about things that were going on in the community. I even was in charge of the horoscopes lol. Local school sports are always a winner and school club activities. You could have a student recognition corner and interview just average students goals, hobbies and ideals. Interview teachers and have a teacher’s corner as well. Remember you could sell advertising to help with costs. We published off-site so if you plan to do this then I would ask the off site publisher what format they would use. Our circulation was approx 2500 and an off site publisher was time effective.
