Can U2 be classes as Indie?

READ FIRST!!
i dont mean indie as in they are unsigned because now even signed bands such as The Feeling, Kings of Leon and The Hoosiers are classed as “indie”
anyway my ex rly likes U2 and i saw in the Q magazine music channel “Top Indie Anthems” that a lot of U2 songs were played, and he doesnt believe me.
so can U2 be classed as somewhat indie because i know they’re more classical rock type
opinions please. no argueing over the definition of “indie”, just answer the question please

I’m sorry but to answer your question,you have to look at the definition of “indie”. U2 do not fit that definition in any shape or form.Its lazy journalism that is at fault. U2 probably spend more on plectrums and wrap around shades than real indie bands do on their entire album.
Just because The Feeling, The Hoosiers et al are called indie by so called journalists/music channels it doesn’t mean they are.
U2 are a behemoth rock band.End of Story.
